Our delicious food will complete your vacation. We bake our flatbread, bread and other goodies ourself – come and sample our authentic local delicacies! The menu has options ranging from a buffet lunch to three-course dinners. The matron of Vietonen is known for setting a fish and reindeer table that is heavily laden with delicious options. The main building of Loma-Vietonen is an authentic farm house representing the traditional Southern Lapland style of one hundred years ago. Its cosy farmhouse sitting room invites guests to enjoy an unhurried morning coffee or a tasty lunch after a ski excursion. The large room can seat some 50 diners. The main building also houses the so-called side chamber, which can seat about 16 people, and a new section that has a capacity of 30. The restaurant’s full customer capacity is 90, but this can be temporarily increased to up to 150 if the upstairs rooms are taken into use. Loma-Vietonen also offers the unique conference facility Oppiriihi (Learning Barn). Fully equipped with the necessary AV gear, this facility can seat 35 people.

Spend your summer in the woods and on water

Fish-rich Vietonen, one of the largest lakes in Finland, has clean waters and sandy shores. In summer, we arrange various guided fishing trips such as a fly fishing and a trolling excursion. The surroundings of Loma-Vietonen contain good bicycle paths and nature trails that the entire family can enjoy.

In the realm of snow and ice

Loma-Vietonen lets you enjoy the quiet winter environment and excursions into the surrounding pure-white landscape under a blue sky. We organise programmed week-long vacation packages, which can consist of, for example, snowmobile and reindeer safaris, dog sled excursions or visits to the ice breaker Sampo. At Loma-Vietonen, you can ski and go on snowshoe treks either independently or in the company of a guide. Vietonen is a large lake in Ylitornio. The area of the lake is 36 km2 and it contains two islands, Koivusaari and Himotussaari. Lake Vietonen is a popular fishing destination, famed for its large perch and pike! Himotussaari contains a campfire spot and a kota shelter. In winter, it can be accessed by snowmobile or ski. The lake drains in to Lake Mieko at Kaaraneskoski. All the cosy cottages have modern amenities and the beautiful, fish-rich lake invites summertime visitors out for a row. Guests can use the rowboat for free and motorboats are available to rent.

Loma-Vietonen is located at Meltosjärvi, Ylitornio. From the centre of Rovaniemi, drive 64 km in the direction of Pello. The entire way is signposted. The nearest airport is in Rovaniemi (74 km) and Rovaniemi railway station is 64 km away.
