Lohijärven Eräkeskus

We provide a splendid setting for a relaxed stay in summer or in winter and offer a stimulating environment for fishermen, bird watchers and nature photographers, among others. The eatery Nälkäinen Hauki is on the same grounds and the village shop and a service station are just a short walk away.

We have 14 rooms, some of which are equipped with kitchenettes and bathrooms. The needs of guests with impaired mobility have also been taken into consideration. The main building contains saunas and showers, meeting and conference rooms for 30 people, a well-equipped kitchen, drying closet and a washing machine. A peaceful recreational space is located in the upstairs lobby. The eatery Nälkäinen Hauki shares the same grounds with us and the village shop Piimätien Puoti with its fuel pump is just a short walk away.

The wilderness centre’s environs are excellent for fishing in both winter and summer, whether you are trolling for a giant pike, trying to fly fish a grayling or going for one of the river’s famed salmon. A good spot for launching boats is on our grounds and we also rent boats. We are located on the path of a bird migration flyway, which provides for great bird-watching and photographing opportunities. We can also arrange guided excursions to photograph, for example, elk on request. Rovaniemi railway station and airport are less than 80 km away and can be reached by car in less than one hour. If you want to slow your pace and enjoy a peaceful natural environment and silence, we recommend you try our affordable wintertime week rentals – with luck, you’ll get to admire an Aurora Borealis light show.

In summer, we offer a 20-person smoke sauna for rent. Our kota barbecue shelter has a capacity of 20 and is available to our guests free of charge. Our bathing beach is the most popular in the area and the sandy beach is a great place to take in the glare of the summer sun. Go for an outing on the ski trails around Lake Lohi in winter or rent a pair of snowshoes from us and go on a hike. Another winter option is to visit a reindeer farm and check out how racing reindeer are trained, for example.
