Forest Jewel
Forest Jewell’s cafeteria-shop is located on its own island along the road that connects Sweden and Finland. We manufacture and sell Lappish handicrafts and souvenirs. Our building has an interesting history. It was originally used by Swedish customs and was later manned jointly by the customs authorities of Finland and Sweden.
The island enjoys a splendid view of the surrounding Tornio River Valley. In winter, the magnificent border bridge is at times lit up by the Aurora Borealis in addition to its own attractive lamps. Springtime visitors can experience the rush of the breaking river ice and those who come in summer can see the nightless night on Aavasaksa and fish in Europe’s finest salmon river.
Pop in for a coffee and some souvenir shopping. Groups should make prior arrangements for their visit. Maximum group size 30 people. Groups can also opt to craft a unique souvenir of their visit to Aavasaksa with their own hands.
